VM-01 vs HM-01: Vertical or Horizontal—Which Engine Style Suits You Best | Stirlingkit

At almost the same time last year, we launched the HM-01. It was immediately loved by many users. It has an adjustable oil cup, user-friendly carburetor, improved exhaust sound, resonance pipe, fast and slow speed switch, high-quality materials and attractive design, which has won many praises from users.

“RETROL ENGINEHM-01 Four-Stroke Horizontal Hit and Miss Gas Engine. Build was fun! Everything went together perfect. Build took just a tad over 3 hours. Super satisfying. Buy hit and miss engine, I recommend Stirlingkit”

“This is my first model engine and I was a bit skeptical about spending so much money, especially considering the exchange rate and not knowing if it would actually arrive. But I must say that Stirlingkit did a great job in making the process go smoothly. The beautifully packaged parcel arrived earlier than expected and without damage. Upon opening the parcel I found that everything was very well packed with foam cutouts and all small items were in labeled plastic bags. I made my own engine mounts, ignition and battery boxes and small fuel tank. I have gotten the engine to start but it will not run at low speeds and I have to work on retarding the ignition timing. A work in progress hopefully with good results. The engine is very well made and was easy to assemble.”

We have received many positive comments about HM-01.But at the same time, HM-01 also has some problems. That is, the ignition module is often easily damaged. We also often encounter this problem. We have also reissued it to customers who have encountered this problem.

One day a customer suddenly asked us: Can Stirlingkit develop an engine similar to the one in the picture? Like this VM-01:

After a period of research and discussions with Retrol's suppliers, and after some difficulties, we finally overcame the technical difficulties and created a VM-01, yes, this is an upright version of HM-01. We solved the problems that HM-01 often had before. We are happy to announce that Stirlingkit is about to launch a new product: VM-01.

So what is the difference between this one and the previous HM-01?

Key Differences:

1.Orientation: The primary difference lies in the layout. The HM-01 is horizontally oriented, while the VM-01 stands vertically. The vertical VM-01 offers a more compact and space-saving design, making it easier to showcase as a model. On the other hand, the HM-01’s horizontal form appeals to those who appreciate classic engineering setups, mimicking larger-scale engine models.

2. Performance: While both engines feature the same internal combustion system, aesthetics and installation preferences are considered. The VM-01's vertical layout offers a more compact appearance, making it more suitable for display and collection

3. Aesthetic appeal: The VM-01 features an eye-catching new color palette, adding to its standout appeal. In contrast, the HM-01 offers a more traditional look and a collector-favorite horizontal setup. Both engines are made from premium materials, ensuring quality and durability.

So which version do you like best, please comment.

Where can I get the VM-01 specifications, a video of one running, a price and when available. I know these new introductions do take time – waiting patiently!!

I do have the HM-01 and a vertical version would complete the collection as well as going with the real vertical hit and Miss engine
