Raphael is a student from France. But he was able to use DM119 as a prototype and complete its modification. We had the honor to interview him and his modified version
1. Can you briefly introduce yourself to us?
Answer:My name is raphael 28 years old and from France, 3d modelling. It's just a hobby and I'm passionate about aviation and space
2. Can you tell us about the process of designing and modifying the Turbofan Engine kit? What are the main challenges you encountered during the modification process?
Answer:for the modification, nothing special, just measure for the inlet cowl then design and print it. light modification with wires to make it look more than the Trent XWB, just found it as the best model of turbofan and want to display it in a different manner. The engine is really satisfying to build and the details are perfect for what I was looking for, totally worth it.
3. I see that most of the videos posted on your Instagram account are about aircraft engine models. When did you become interested in these? Or what was your original intention?
Answer:for me it's just a hobby, i like 3D modelling and models with a lot of details, my others diorama are all 3D print and design by myself but this one allow me to have a perfect base without imperfections to make my diorama more realistic, thanks to the metal and not plastic.
4. Do you have anything to say to the designer about this engine? Or do you have any unique insights on this engine? What made you want to modify this engine?
Answer:nothing special to say for the designer, huge thanks to them for making it really realistic, detailed and fun to build. I got the idea of this display after viewing the product on social media.
5. To be able to modify such an engine model, I think you should have professional mechanical knowledge theory, so I want to know how you learned and understood engine knowledge in the early days? What do you think is the most important point for engines?
Answer: i'm currently a student airline pilot, so in ground school we have theoretical knowledge about jet engines. I have no professional background in maintenance, engineering or mechanical, so this it's just a hobby for me. If you ask about this engine, the fact that it is "functional", has a lot of details and we can see different rotating parts in the engine is the best part of it.
